📲 How to get an eSIM for Taiwan

1. Choose your plan — select your data bundle and check out. Your eSIM QR code is emailed to you within minutes.
2. Install before you fly — scan the QR code while on Wi-Fi to add the eSIM, but leave the Volo line and data roaming switched off for now. (Travelling from Hong Kong? Important — this plan covers Hong Kong too, so don’t switch it on until you’ve left.)

❓ Frequently asked questions

Can I activate my plan later?
Yes — installing isn’t the same as activating. The validity clock starts the first time the eSIM connects to a network. Because this plan also covers Hong Kong, Macau and mainland China, connecting in any of those starts it too — so if you’re flying from Hong Kong, keep the Volo line switched off until you land in Taiwan, and your days won’t start early.

Which network will I connect to?
You’ll connect to Chunghwa on 5G, with your phone automatically picking the strongest available signal.

Will my phone work with this eSIM?
Most phones released from 2018 onward support eSIM and are carrier-unlocked. On iPhone, open Settings › General › About and look for an EID number; if it’s there, you’re ready.

Can I keep my home number?
Yes. This is a data-only eSIM that runs as a second line beside your home SIM, so calls and texts on your usual number still come through.

Can I share data over hotspot?
Yes — tether your laptop, tablet or a travel companion’s phone.
